Unfortunitly barracks arnt the real desired homes of the game there more a patch job solution untill you build rooms as such they have the arbitrary barracks debuff untill you make it pretty afterwhich the main problem is the disturbed sleep debuff theres no way around that if you have a shared room and they dont all go to sleep at the same time its one of the main reasons barracks arnt. Carpet or stone or wood floors beats dirt. I got to sleep in a slightly impressive bedroom.

Build some more research benches then having more increase reserch speed and always keep them doing something. All throne rooms require 2 braziers which must be lit. All bedrooms require a double bed. My bedrooms are 3x3 with a single bed of average quality and wood floors for the most part and nothing else and none of them are awful at extreme difficulty.
